Our History and Plans for the Future

Every business has a story worth telling, and ours starts with two names Ipswich locals have come to know and trust: Michael and Kate.

Where It All Began

Fifteen years ago, Michael set out on his own as a sole trader, taking on bathroom renovations one job at a time. It was the kind of start many great trade businesses have — a ute, a toolbox, and a reputation built one satisfied customer at a time. Alongside Michael, his wife Kate helped shape the business from the ground up, and together they laid the foundation for what would become Inhouse Bathrooms: a name synonymous with quality craftsmanship and honest, reliable service across Ipswich and the surrounding region.

As word spread and the workload grew, Michael did what any good tradesperson with an eye for the future does — he invested in people. In 2015, he took on a young apprentice named Cory.

A Business Built on Apprenticeship and Trust

Over the following years, Cory grew alongside the business. What started as an apprenticeship became a genuine partnership in everything but name, as Cory worked his way up through the trade, eventually stepping into the role of Supervisor. By this point, Inhouse Bathrooms had grown well beyond Michael's original sole-trader days — a thriving operation with more than five employees and a trusted network of 15 subcontractors, all delivering the same standard of quality Michael had built his name on.

It was this journey — from apprentice to Supervisor, learning the trade and the business from the inside out — that made what happened next feel less like a transaction, and more like the natural next chapter.

A New Chapter, in 2024

In 2024, Cory and his wife Jordie took the leap and purchased the business from Michael and Kate. It wasn't a decision made overnight, nor was it really a decision at all in the traditional sense — it was the organic result of years of trust, hard work, and a shared belief in doing right by our customers. Cory had earned his place in this business long before the paperwork made it official, and is determined to carry forward everything Michael and Kate have built.

We're incredibly grateful to Michael and Kate for the legacy they entrusted to us — a business built on integrity, craftsmanship, and genuine care for the people whose homes we work in. That legacy is something we don't take lightly, and it's the standard we hold ourselves to every single day.

Why We Rebranded

So why change the name at all, if the goal is to honour what came before?

The truth is, a rebrand isn't about leaving the past behind — it's about stepping forward into a new chapter with clarity and confidence. As Inhouse by Brinckman Effect, Cory has the opportunity to establish this business as his own, distinct from the original Inhouse Bathrooms, while still carrying forward every bit of the trust, skill, and reputation that Michael helped build. It's a way of saying: this business has grown, it has new leadership, and it's ready for what's next — without ever forgetting where it came from.

What Hasn't Changed

While our name and look have evolved, what matters most hasn't changed at all. We're still a family-owned and family-run business. We still believe that every renovation should be treated as the unique project it is, with our knowledge and expertise guiding you every step of the way. And we still believe the best work comes from being genuinely embedded in our local community — supporting local trades, working with local suppliers like Inhouse Trade Centre, and building relationships with our customers that last well beyond the final coat of sealant.

Michael and Kate built something special. Our job now is to honour that by continuing to grow it, the same way it started — with care, craftsmanship, and community at its heart.
